Straits time reflection #8
Q1 )What are some of the things that schools in Singapore are doing in order to take care of the environment ?
Answers :Some schools ask their students to bring their electricity bills from home to track their month to month energy use and teach them to save energy . Some schools also emphasize on issues like energy conservation and climate change .Schools like Elias Park Primary contribute fruit peels to the school's 3 compost bins , which can convert food waste into fertilizers , and teach the students about recyclable materials . Commonwealth Secondary also has its own wetland , which treats grey water from bathroom sinks and study the wetland's plants and animals . Marsiling Lower Secondary students do experiments like testing air quality in their school and Nanyang Girl's High School ban cardboard takeaway boxes and bring their own instead .
Q2)Do you think one person's effort in reducing , reusing and recycling will make a difference in saving the environment ? What steps have you taken in the effort to save the Earth ?
Answers : Yes,it would make a big difference. For examples: paper.More trees might not have been cut down if we reuse the paper instead of throwing them after they are not needed.Water can also be reuse. But people does not intend to use it. Therefore, more water are used. This could also effect the lack of water that the world are facing.Steps that I have taken is reusing.
Paper which are not fully used can be used for maths working and other thing such as draft paper.
